October 31, 1517, is considered the birthdate of Protestantism, marked by Martin Luther posting his 95 theses on the door of All Saints’ Church in Wittenberg, Germany.

In Geneva, the Reformation was officially adopted by the authorities on May 21, 1536, right inside Saint Peter’s Cathedral, turning the city into a nerve center of Protestantism thanks in large part to Guillaume Farel and John Calvin. These individuals and their actions left an indelible mark on history, transforming the world as the period from 1517 to 1536 became a spiritual, societal, and social turning point in Europe and beyond.
Half a millennium later, the Reformation continues. More than just people and deeds, more than eras and places, more than history, the Reformation is above all a movement that carries on from generation to generation. What does it look like today? What are its characteristics? What are its clear manifestations? What are its implications? Should we take part? Can we benefit from it? These are just some of the many questions—and many more—that encourage us to embrace a Reformation whose importance and urgency cannot be emphasized enough in times like these.
The movement of the Reformation
Today as in the past—enables us to emerge from darkness and move ever more toward the light. The Reformation continues for a future and for hope, so the motto of Geneva, “Post Tenebras Lux” (after darkness, light), remains as relevant as ever throughout the ages up to today.

Speakers
David Bouillon est né en Belgique en 1969.
Diplômé en philosophie et docteur en théologie.
Pasteur réformé depuis 1996 (Belgique et France) ; professeur de théologie pratique et de spiritualité à la HET-PRO.
Président de l’Union de prière, mouvement d’intercession fondé en 1947.
Impliqué comme enseignant dans le ministère Guesher (communauté de Saint-Loup, VD)
A étudié et vécu à Jérusalem et s’engage depuis de nombreuses années dans le dialogue et le soutien aux communautés juives.
Marié à Myriam et parents de trois enfants.
Est né à Paris de parents américains et a grandi à Genève, en Suisse. Son père était homme d’affaires et sa mère journaliste auprès des Nations Unies.
En 1976, à l’âge de 19 ans, John entreprend un voyage de six mois en sac à dos, de la Suisse jusqu’en Inde, à la recherche de réponses aux grandes questions de l’existence. C’est à New Delhi, au contact d’un missionnaire néerlandais, qu’il découvre la foi chrétienne et se tourne vers Jésus-Christ.
Depuis plus de 40 ans, John exerce un ministère pastoral et missionnaire en France et en Suisse, notamment dans le domaine de l’implantation d’Églises. Il a d’abord servi avec TEAM et poursuit aujourd’hui son ministère au sein de Grace Ministries International (GMI).
En 2007, il fonde à Genève l’Église Évangélique Internationale de Genève, une Église francophone dont il confie la responsabilité pastorale à un pasteur français en septembre 2021. En novembre 2023, il fonde la Geneva Bible Church, une Église anglophone destinée notamment à la communauté internationale de Genève.
John est titulaire d’une licence de l’Université de Syracuse, d’un Master of Divinity (MDiv) du Talbot Theological Seminary et d’un Doctor of Ministry (DMin) du Master’s Seminary. Pendant 16 ans, il a également été aumônier de l’équipe de hockey Genève-Servette et, durant 25 ans, a animé sur Radio 74 une émission hebdomadaire d’enseignement biblique en français, Plus précieux que l’or.
Passionné par l’histoire de la Réforme et par le patrimoine religieux de Genève, John a également fondé Calvin Tours, qui propose des visites guidées consacrées à l’histoire de la Réforme dans la ville de Calvin. Il est par ailleurs l’auteur de La Genève de Jean Calvin : sur les pas du grand Réformateur, un ouvrage qui invite le lecteur à découvrir Genève à travers les lieux qui ont marqué la vie et le ministère de Jean Calvin.
John et son épouse, Meg, ont trois enfants adultes, qui vivent aujourd’hui en Floride et à Dubaï.
Franck Lefillatre exerce un ministère de pasteur et d’enseignant depuis plus de 25 ans. Il a notamment été pasteur de l’Église Paris Métropole et, ces cinq dernières années, de l’Église de Réveil de Genève. Il a enseigné dans plusieurs instituts bibliques et est l’auteur de nombreux articles ainsi que de plusieurs livres chrétiens. Marié à Ester, il est père et grand-père.
Rodrigues Perreira and his wife Ana are based in Lisbon, Portugal.
They lead the Kingdom Culture ministries, which include churches, evangelism and teaching ministries.
They founded the European School of Supernatural Ministry, raising up a new prophetic generation ministering through the Holy Spirit.
They carry an apostolic vision, notably through the movement The Change, which brings together tens of thousands of people in stadiums in Lisbon, Madrid, Recife and beyond.
Laurent & Bernalyn carry out an apostolic and prophetic ministry in Switzerland, Europe, and the French- and English-speaking world.
